Email Signatures - Hello, This Is Me

The email signature is the who you are, where your from and what you do at the end of your email.
It's your advert, use it to advertise yourself.

.
.

Your emails signature should contain all your relevant details, what these are will depend on who your audience is.

If it's a business contact then obviously it should be fairly formal and contain details of you, your role/responsibilities and business contact details including your business address.

The idea here is to communicate the image and details of who you are in a professional business like manner, an extension of your business self. Unless you're a creative person then it's best to stay away from smart references or quotes as a tag line, even if you are it's probably best to leave them out.

The signature has got to help portray you in the way you would wish to portray yourself in person in a business setting. If you're adding a signature to your personal emails then it's fine to include items that show your personality or interests like famous movie quotes or references, lines from poems etc. You will most likely want to leave out most of the details relating to your business as most personal contacts will either know them already or be more likely to ask you in person.
The main thing to remember is that the purpose of the email signature is to communicate who you are and how people can get in touch with you in a manner that fits in with the relationship you have with them. The details needs to be relevant to the recipient of the email.
.
..

But not always The problem with email signatures is they can take up a fair chunk of space, space that doesn't need to be filled all the time.
If you're replying to an email and you started the email conversation then you really don't need to repeat your full email signature on every message.
Over use of your full signature will just degrade the effectiveness of it as people will automatically mentally filter it out after a while.

Consider leaving it out all together or have a shorter version for replies that may include your name only or maybe a main contact number as well.
Again remember that the details send have to be relevant to the recipient of the email. An effective email signature is one that gets the relevant points across without over doing it.

Risk of Abduction - Traveling Safely with Children

There is very little point in expounding the statistics on the risks of child abduction.

The recent distressing case of little Madelaine McCann is enough of a worrying statistic in itself to send any self respecting, loving parent into a tailspin.
There are some simple yet golden rules to follow to ensure your child will never be featured in one of those terrible headlines.

The first rule is to never let your child wander away from you.

Not even for a second.

It is so tempting while struggling with suitcases, hand luggage and travel documents, to let go of the little hand in yours.

Do not risk it.

If possible, find a seat, sit your child on a suitcase in front of you while you juggle with papers and money.
Under pressure, it is so easy to relinquish your control on your child but you must never give in to the temptation.
If you are being hurried along by airport officials to produce documents or anything else for that matter, try to ignore their priorities; think of your own and that of your child. If necessary, remind people you have to consider your child first.
I saw an interesting technique put into practice by a vigilant mother recently.

She was carrying at least four shopping bags plus her handbag and was pushing a buggy, holding a toddler by the hand.

When she had to let go of the toddler's hand to pay the cashier, she gently applied pressed down upon the protruding toe piece of the child's sandal with her foot.
The toddler could not move without the mother feeling the toe being withdrawn from beneath her foot, she had her hand free to accept her change and everyone was safe.
I thought it an ingenious albeit simple control.

Take the time to talk to your child seriously about the risks of trusting strangers.
Small children have a vivid imagination so try not to frighten them with tales of abduction, just explain carefully and gently that they must not go anywhere with a stranger, no matter how helpful and convincing that stranger might sound.
Do not allow your child to investigate public conveniences in restaurants and shops alone.

Never leave your child unattended, even if they are asleep and unlikely to wake. Remember, the one time they will wake up and find themselves alone might be the last time you see them. Waking, the first instinct is to find Mummy.

If Mummy is not there, then the second instinct is to find her.
Consider the tragic possibilities before you leave a child sleeping somewhere.
Never leave your child alone in the car while you pay for petrol unless there is an adult in the car with them.

Small kiddies can be a nightmare when you have to wake them up from a deep sleep, unbuckle them, remove them from car seats, go to the petrol cashier across a cold garage forecourt, and then put them back in the car again, but you will have to put up with it for peace of mind.

The more you do it, the sooner the child will get used to it until it becomes a tedious routine.
Your child might be playing on the beach, building sandcastles and having a wonderful time.

Just because the child is having a good time it does not mean they are safe.
Remember that someone else other than yourself might be watching your child play with prurient interest. Watch them constantly, and never think you can go to the shop for ten minutes or spare twenty minutes to have lunch.

It takes seconds to abduct a child and a lifetime of grief and horror is the result.
Carry plenty of things for your child to do.
Children are happier if they are occupied and less likely to wander off to seek diversion.

Any reasonably sized handbag will accommodate a small coloring book and pencils, an electronic game, a snack and a story book.
I carried such collections for years and now the habit is so ingrained, I carry a crossword book and a novel for my own entertainment! I recently read an article written by a lady who expressed every sympathy for Madelaine's parents.
'After all,' she said, 'we have all done it; we have all left our children unattended at some time.
' Well actually, I have not. Although my heart goes out to the parents of Madelaine, I cannot agree with the statement that we have all left our children sleeping in a strange apartment unattended.

My daughter is nineteen years old and thankfully has reached adulthood without any dreadful experiences of being abducted or abused.

I consider myself as a mother to be fortunate but I do not consider my child's safety had much to do with luck. Vigilance over her safety was a constant priority in my life until she was old enough to attend to her own security. Do not rely too heavily on an older child to supervise a younger one.

Again, it is tempting to share responsibility, but while traveling there is so much to see that is different and unfamiliar, any child, no matter what age or how sensible, might be excused a lapse in concentration.

Travel safely, and although you will not have unlimited freedom, you will enjoy the peace of mind which comes in the knowledge your children are safe and secure.

Online Degree in Accounting

An online degree in accounting offers opportunities and job security that most other degrees don't have.
A 2008 survey stated that 500 accounting professionals had better job opportunities with an accounting degree.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the employment opportunities for graduates with a degree in the business field will grow by 18 percent by 2016.

If you want to have a great career and work with clients to help them with their budgets and spending, consider obtaining your degree online as soon as possible. There are three classes of certified accountants: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certified Management Accountant (CMA). A CPA can perform many services for the public, such as auditing, litigation, tax planning, etc.
A CIA may work in an auditing capacity for employers, and the CMAs can work for companies and also work in the public as well. Every state is different, so obtaining you bachelor or at least associate degree is necessary in order to start working as a CPA.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, opportunities are highest when a graduate has completed either a bachelor's degree or a master's degree. Degrees can be obtained online, making it much more cost efficient and time efficient as well for the working student or parent.
The BLS has also reported the average earnings of a college graduate accountant to be $54,000.
Some of the tasks they perform are tax preparation, bookkeeping, or working in a payroll service firm. Everyone in today's world needs someone to help them with their taxes and spending.

If you love working with people and helping others manage their finances, a degree in accounting could put you on the path to a new and rewarding career.

How Can RFID Help Hospital's Material Managers Lower Inventory Levels

Material managers are always looking for ways to improve their medical supply and devices management. This includes: 1.

Making sure nurses always have the items available 2.
Inventory levels are right - not over or under stocked 3. Supplies are accessible easily 4.
There is a good record keeping mechanism 5.
Replenishment is timely 6.

Storage space is used efficiently There are various software solutions, storage systems, and methodologies that assist in this vital task.
Color coded storage bins for example are different color bins, that contain families of items.
All the gloves can be stored in blue bins, hygiene materials can be stored in red bins.
.
.
etc. How is this helpful - because a nurse eye balls the supply room, looks for blue bin section, and finds the gloves quickly. The less time he/she spends on finding supplies, the more time is available for patient care.
Let's take another inventory management tool - bar codes. Each supply item is coded with a regular bar code.

This means that nurses must scan the item they wish to remove every single time. The method enables to keep better track of what was used, and possibly a record of inventory levels. It depends on the complexity of the bar code solution.
Another way Material Managers better control over the inventory is through Par level methodology. Ensuring inventory is up-to-par means maintaining the approximate supply levels in each bin.

This means a supply personnel must walk to a hospital supply room, eye ball the bins, and see if anything is about to run low.

If so, record the items in need of replenishment, go back to the hospital storage room, gather the supplies and replenish. There are many more methods to keep running the supply room in a satisfactory, but these methods do not help the hospital excel.
What's wrong with the existing methods? 1.

They are not automatic 2. Prone to human errors 3. Not completely accurate 4.
Might leave the hospital with overstocks - wasted money and space 5.
Cause more work for hospital staff - counting, finding, replenishing Bottom line - simply more expensive and time consuming. So, what's the solution - RFID technology.

RFID technology has evolved in the past several years to help hospitals excel and work in a much leaner manner. RFID technology is able to track what has been used, what needs to be re-ordered.

It can connect to the hospital's ERP systems (Lawson, McKesson), and keep a better patient record.

There is no counting, or manual labor involved once RFID technological solutions are implemented.

What Are Eebee's Adventures All About?

As a rule, babies typically don't make up a huge demographic of the DVD-viewing audience, but the crawling', toddling' crowd now has a delightful character, eebee, who can lead the diapered set (and their parents, of course) through an entertaining series of interactive and educational adventures.
The multicolored, bright-eyed puppet, too unassuming to have a capitalized name or even any apparent gender, interacts with real babies in a variety of play situations onscreen, and both you and your baby will be captivated and inspired by their activities. The first of the DVD series, "Exploring Real Stuff," considers the physical properties of things in baby's world - everything from toys to paper to cereal to cardboard boxes - and the fun and interesting things that can be done with them. Baby learns that round things roll and sponge-blocks tumble; that crepe paper can be a blast to crinkle, toss and tear; that Cheerios can be as much fun to funnel as they are to eat.

"All in a Day's Play," the second DVD, explores, among other things, a variety of imaginative ways to have fun with a laundry basket.
It also introduces the concept of sound and music, through various standbys such as the classic pot and wooden spoon, as well as jingle bells, plastic containers and other "instruments.

" From this DVD babies learn to expand their imagination beyond that which is seen and heard (or not heard) into things that can be adapted to a wonderful world of other uses, whether the imagined item is a laundry-basket-cum-basketball-net or a bevy of household items converted to an improv jazz band ensemble.
The third of the series, "Figuring Things Out," finds eebee and friends experimenting with light and shadows, along with other elements of more physical substance and varying textures: mountains of pillows, and an obstacle course of various toys and baby-friendly household items.
In hands-on fashion, toddlers flip switches, trace light beams, learn how to things fit together, and how to take them apart and rearrange them. This sets a solid foundation for later problem-solving skills and creating solutions to reach goals, as well as being just plain fun. The DVD also sheds light (literally) on the fact that the dark is nothing to fear, and that shadows can be joyful friends rather than scary figures. eebee's Adventures is intended for babies six months and older, but parents and caregivers will delight in it just as much.

Why Bedtime Reading To Kids Is Important?

Book reading at bed time is a wonderful practice.
It stimulates the development in young kids and gives them a head start before schooling.

Moreover, sharing a bedtime story with kids helps to develop their motor skills. With that known, you might be planning to get a collection of stories. However, in this tech-world you do not need to collect a pile of papers.

You can store many story books in just one device. The only thing that you might need to do after a long time is get Macbook replacement screen, or perhaps change iPad parts only when the respective device got damaged. Otherwise, you can just keep on reading bedtime stories for your kids until they grow up to read for themselves.
Some parents leave the practice of reading to the teachers alone once they turn five.

What they fail to realize is that parental involvement is of essence.
This one factor can greatly influence a child's learning than any other thing.

It further enhances their social and emotional development. It is a proven fact that kids, who are read to since an early age have better language development. Obviously, this will show in the later years when they start scoring high in language.

Most importantly, while reading aloud, an emotion between the parent and child is formed. This makes it a pleasure activity for the child.

And because of this a child is likely to develop his/her own reading abilities.
Ultimately, kids learn to love the stories they are grown up with and would not hesitate sharing them with others.

Bed time reading is the best way to develop your child's interest in reading as well as stimulate their imagination.
Even when the child is small, he/she will concentrate when you are reading aloud.
This is why reading to them since infancy is a good practice.

You will have your kid's attention automatically when you are reading an interesting story. This polishes their attention span and receptive language skills.
Try to continue the practice even when your child starts reading.
Because when you read to them in appropriate pronunciations, it is a really enlightening experience for kids.

This is the form of learning for a child.
Although he/she is not well versed with vocabulary, but tries to understand the meaning of the story according to the tone of the reader.

Although they do not know the meaning of every single word, they will still get the idea. Obviously, the difficult words or phrases can be explained by parents.
When kids get to hear stories beyond their own reading level, they get a better exposure.

After that, you can encourage them to read independently before they go to bed.
It is not just facts that enlighten them, but fiction also opens up new worlds of knowledge and experience. Surely, this will help to prepare them for life at school.

At this stage, kids need to be motivated in public library activities or programs like story hours or films.

Basically reading to a child is not only to make him sleep, but also enhance the language learning skills. It will be a waste of talent if you just let them watch TV every time.

List of Jobs For 15 Year Olds - Earn Big Wads of Cash

Like the available jobs for 14 year old, the available jobs for 15 year olds are limited to a certain few.
15 year olds can file for application at food establishments like McDonalds or grocery stores.

The only problem arising from being employees of these companies is that they pay low prices for your labor. They can also be tutors, counselors-in-training, teen writers, babysitters, or lifeguards. These, however, require specific training.

Lifeguards, of course, must know how to swim. Tutors should be knowledgeable about the specific subjects that they're teaching other students.
Counselors-in-training is training by itself since it is a stepping stone towards becoming a camp counselor once you reach 16. However, counselors-in-training do not get paid.
Experience with the job is the only thing one gets out of it. Teen writers should be able to write reasonably well and babysitters should have training and experience in dealing with younger children. However, the easier way to earn money is to do so right from the comforts of your own home.

You only need an internet connection and a few minutes of your time and you're all set.
This job is known as survey forms filling and it is the most common job that a 15 year old can do today without the hassle of applying for a job or undergoing an excruciating interview with your employer.
There is no membership fee or joining fee which makes it a wonderful job opportunity for teens.

15 year olds have the right to want to earn money. This teaches them to be responsible for their actions and for their finances and budgeting.
This helps them into mature adults.
Be it for money or for personal reasons, if a 15 year old is determined to start working then this should be encouraged by their parents.

Anger Management for Kids - Helping Kids Control Their Anger

Anger - it's a part of life and everyone experiences it.

Anger isn't a bad emotion.
We should not try to suppress it or bury it, that only makes it stronger and more fierce.
However, we need to understand, practice and teach our children valuable anger management skills so they can learn to deal with anger early on.

We have seen the devastating effects of suppressed anger unleashed in our schools, homes and institutions. Let's learn to effectively deal with it now so there are not unsuspecting moments in your family's life.

Acknowledge your child's anger and her right to be angry. When you are angry, you do not want to hear that you have no right to be angry, or "stop acting that way." You want to be heard.

You want to express your anger because deep inside, under that anger is a feeling of injustice of some type.

Often anger has pain or fear at it's very core.
The foundation of anger comes from a feeling of having love being withheld in some way.

Its guises may vary.
At first glance you may think have a plausible explanation for anger - but underneath the anger is always a hidden fear or pain. Help your child dig into that fear or pain by talking it out.

Get to the root of the issue.

Don't yell back if your child is yelling, but sit quietly and listen bringing calm and understanding to the situation. Certainly don't allow your child to abuse you with assaults, but understand that sometimes a few lines of out-burst may be what is needed so the cork doesn't pop.

Then, take in a deep breath and talk it out.

Let your child know that anger is OK. Don't try to stop it, but help your child learn to talk through things and let her know that you will always listen, as any caring person would do. Most of the time, just talking it out diffuses the anger, even if you have to come back to the topic many times. Keep working at it until it is resolved, always remaining loving, kind and respectful.

Model appropriate anger management for your child.
We all get angry sometimes.

When you feel yourself getting angry, take in a deep breath and exhale deeply, center your being and then go on to explain why you are upset. This will actually become more natural the more you practice it.

Don't think you're a bad parent or a bad example if you get angry.

Children need appropriate role models for emotional management and if you cover up anger or try to hide it, your child will feel it anyway, so your efforts are futile.

Be honest, be open and learn to grow from every experience and every emotion. Remember kindness and respect are the keys to healthy relationships. If relationships are not based on kindness and respect then anger is going to be present.

Help your child understand this truth about all relationships.

Even if your child doesn't particularly like someone, it is still important to be respectful and to be kind as much as possible.

Where basic kindness and respect are lacking, problems result.
You may not always agree with your child and you may not even approve of certain choices. However, as long as kindness and respect are present and you accept your child for who he or she is, then anger issues can and will be diffused.

Remember that you don't necessarily have to approve of who your child is as a person.

It is vital however, that you accept who your child is.
Acceptance is fundamental, even when you are not in agreement.
Your child is her own person, and some parents spend many years and many tears understanding that acceptance is the foundation.
Disagreement is okay, rejection is not.

Share with your child how you manage your own anger.
You might use prayer, meditation, deep breathing, physical exercise and talking it out to help release anger.

Prayer and meditation are more medium to long term solutions while deep breathing, exercising and talking it out are quick and short term solutions to diffuse the immediate anger. My ten year old son finds that deep breathing is especially beneficial before talking out the situation and explaining his view of things. He also uses prayer to center himself and feels that he is more balanced and can deal with his fluctuating emotions easier by doing so.

Some time ago, he also created a poster for his room that reads "If I get too angry, I walk away from the situation".
That has helped remind him to take a breather when needed and cool off.

Sometimes children do not seem to know why they are particularly angry.
They may feel an accumulation of anger due to seemingly insignificant issues.
By being a loving, supporting parent and seeing past anger behaviors, your child will be able to being to deal with these small issues one at a time. Also, if you spend time with your child simply asking her to "feel into the anger" and talking about it calmly; often sadness will eventually come up and you can explore that together.
Getting through the layers of anger can often feel like peeling an onion, but anger is like that sometimes.
Just keep peeling.

Stick with her through the tears, the yelling, the upset, and let her know that no matter what, you accept and love her, and you will get through this together.
Ultimately you are a model for your child.

If you express your anger in undesirable ways, your child will too.
Use the anger management tools yourself as you teach them. You want to teach your child to deal with even the small issues so that anger does not become a habit or that it becomes deep seated as a teenager.

Of course, as a loving parent, you can deal with all types of anger by coming back to these principles, but early intervention is best.

Stay calm and stay focused on your task as guide and teacher rather than getting personally angered by any situation.
Become the observer and helper.
In the end, true love is about the personal commitment to one another through the easy parts and the tough ones.

Anger is an emotion that does not have to be the sore spot of a family.
Breathe deeply and use love, respect and kindness to heal anger and build a healthy loving family relationship.

How to Trick Kids Into Liking Healthy Snacks: Five Healthy Snacks For Kids

Choosing good healthy snacks for kids challenges parents but not as much as getting them to actually eat them! The solution, of course, is to trick kids into eating healthy snacks and learning to like them. I've raised four kids and my wife and I have seven more who are 'works in progress.

' We certainly have our share of kids who turn their noses up at things that are good for them.
What is a good healthy snack for kids? Kid's nutrition is under attack like never before! Childhood obesity is a growing trend and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) reports that childhood obesity has tripled in the last 30 years.

Nearly 20% of children between the ages of 6 - 11 are obese and adolescents ages 12-19 are not far behind at just under 19%. Obese youth are more likely at risk for cardiovascular disease, including high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

They also have higher incident of bone and joint problems, sleep apnea and face social and psychological challenges from poor self esteem.

Kids often turn their noses up at healthy snacks so a resourceful parent will learn how to trick kids into liking healthy snacks.
A good, healthy snack is one that offers enough calories to satisfy energy needs, enough protein and fiber to satisfy hunger. Here are five favorites around our house: Fruit A variety of fruits offer great nutrition. Most kids don't avoid fruit because they don't like it but because they are too lazy to clean it and peel it or slice it up. We found that if we prepared a tray of peeled and sliced fruit and left it out that it disappeared 100% of the time. We were even able to slip a few veggies in such as carrots, celery and, if we were feeling frisky some broccoli.
Peanut Butter Peanut butter is a good source of protein and fiber.
The secret is getting away from PB&J on white bread.
Try combining with whole grain bread or even a whole grain waffle or rice cake.

Try yogurt instead of jam, or make a pure fruit purée to complement the peanut butter.
Sliding a little peanut butter on celery sticks is also a favorite.

Quesadillas Kids love quesadillas.
Cheese is a decent source of calcium and protein but is also high in fat and a typical flour tortilla is another source of fat.

Instead of only cheese and a white flour tortilla, go with a whole wheat tortilla and add a thin layer of refried beans.
Dice up or shred some chicken or whatever leftover meat you have in the fridge, or pop open a can of chicken or even shrimp.

Add some mild salsa.
You've taken the cheesy goodness that make quesadillas a kid' favorite and added protein, fiber and vitamins for a super healthy snack. Yogurt Yogurt is already a favorite snack of many kids. The problem is that most yogurt brands are loaded with sugar and light on protein. Go with Greek-style yogurt instead.

It usually has twice the protein and far less sugar than the regular stuff. Add some fruit to liven it up.
Yogurt spiked with fruit spread over a whole-wheat waffle is irresistable! Smoothies and Shakes Diet shakes have been around a long time and they adapted easily as an excellent treat that kids love.
Start with 100% juice and add fruit and yogurt to taste.
You can also use non-fat milk or soy milk.

It's easy to come up with yummy shakes that are nutrition rich. Experiment because the combinations are limitless.

Be creative and don't be discouraged if not every effort is a home-run.
An infamous story my adult kids tell is about the time I tried to sneak some spaghetti squash into grilled-cheese sandwiches. I still contend it was a good idea and I only got busted because I was a little too heavy-handed with the squash!

How to Choose the Best Walking Shoes for Your Toddler

The moment you see your child takes its first unassisted step, you are overjoyed and cannot believe how big it has grown in such a short period of time. At the same time, you surely will feel tempted to rush and buy your son or daughter a pair of brand new shoes.

After all, it is the best way to celebrate that momentous happening. Still, what you should know is that the procedure of buying your baby its first walking shoes is a bit more complicated than you have actually hoped it would be.

How to choose the appropriate shoes for your toddler The procedure of purchasing a pair of shoes for a toddler who is just learning to walk involves loads of rules that are simply summarized as dos and don'ts. While it is really important that you buy your toddler a pair of outdoor shoes, it is also really important to remember that your little bundle of joy is most stabile when it is on its bare feet.

Walking barefoot enables the child's foot to be developed in a proper manner.

For that purpose, you can resist the temptation of buying him or her an indoor shoes and let it walk barefoot during the summer and with a pair of non-slippery socks during the winter, at least until it has gained a substantial walking mileage.
You need to narrow down your search to shoes that are easy to be put on and just as easy to be taken off. Buckles, Velcro as well as elastic straps are one of the best choices.

You may think that shoelaces look cute, however try to avoid purchasing shoes with laces, as they can be a challenge, especially if you are dealing with a non-cooperative and fussy toddler.

A good fit is of a vital importance The first thing you should remember when you buy your toddler its first shoes is that a good fit is of a vital importance. The shoes should not feel tight, and contrary to the popular belief, there has to be a room for feet to grow.
Also, do not forget about the width.

The best way to test this is to try on some pairs and see how your child walks in them. Your child should act as if it walks barefoot.
The most popular stores always have salespersons that are fully trained and know how to help the parents to find the perfect match.

This said, you shouldn't shy away from purchasing the shoes online. The vast majority of online stores have a knowledgeable customer support that will assist you in your quest for the best pair of shoes.
After all, if the shoes do not fit, you can return them and buy another pair.

Types of shoes you should avoid When it comes to your child's first shoes, you should never go cheap.

The first shoes your toddler wears will define its walking, and if you buy some cheap shoes, the chances are pretty big that your child will have walking difficulties at a later stage. Additionally, you shouldn't spend your whole pay on a pair of shoes that will only be worn for six months or less. Always think in terms of quality.

Never buy your toddler plastic shoes, as the plastic is unbreathable material that tends to make the foot perspire heavily, thus your child's feet may slide and cause blisters.

Lastly, always say no to hand me downs and second hand shoes, as every child will mold the shoes according to its feet anatomy, which usually means that the shoes won't be properly fitted for the feet of the shoes' inheritor.

Bible Study For Kids & Teens

Ecclesiastes 12 1.
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them" - 2. Before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain; 3.

When the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim; 4. When the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when men rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint; 5.

When men are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags himself along and desire no longer is stirred.

Then man goes to his eternal home and mourners go about the streets.
6.
Remember him - before the silver cord is severed, or the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, or the wheel broken at the well, 7. And the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. 8.

"Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. [Or the leader of the assembly; also in verses 9 and 10] "Everything is meaningless!" 9 Not only was the Teacher wise, but also he imparted knowledge to the people.

He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs.

10 The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true.
11 The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails - given by one Shepherd.

12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body. 13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. We should remember our sins against our Creator, repent, and seek forgiveness. We should remember our duties, and set about them, looking to him for grace and strength.

This should be done early, while the body is strong, and the spirits active. Then follows a figurative description of old age and its infirmities, which has some difficulties; but the meaning is plain, to show how uncomfortable, generally, the days of old age are.

As the four verses, vs.
2-5, are a figurative description of the infirmities that usually accompany old age, so vs.

6 notices the circumstances which take place in the hour of death.
If sin had not entered into the world, these infirmities would not have been known. These are the words of one that could speak by dear-bought experience of the vanity of the world, w As he considered the worth of souls, he gave good heed to what he spoke and wrote; words of truth will always be acceptable words.
The truths of God are as goads to such as are dull, and nails to such as are wandering; means to establish the heart, that we may never sit loose to our duty, nor be taken from it.

The Shepherd of Israel is the Giver of inspired wisdom. The title is applied in Scripture to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

The prophets sought diligently, what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. To write many books was not suited to the shortness of human life, and would be weariness to the writer, and to the reader; and then was much more so to both than it is now. All things would be vanity and vexation, except they led to this conclusion, That to fear God, and keep his commandments, is the whole of man.

The fear of God unequaled in it all the affection of the soul towards him, which are produced by the Holy Spirit. There may be terror where there is no love, nay, where there is hatred.

But this is different from the gracious fear of God, as the feelings of an affection child.
The fear of God, is often put for the whole of true religion in the heart, and unequaled its practical results in the life.
Let us now come to him as a merciful Savior, who will soon come as an almighty Judge, when he will bring to light the things of darkness, and manifest the counsels of all hearts. Why does God record in his word, that ALL IS VANITY, but to keep us from deceiving ourselves to our ruin? He makes our duty to be our interest.

May it be graven in all our hearts. Fear God, and keep his commandments, for this should be all that concerns man.

Surviving The First Semester of College - A Guide For Parents

Your child's first semester at college can be a challenge - not only for him, but also for you! Here are some tips for weathering that first semester away.

Start early - don't wait until the last week to think about the clothing and supplies your student will need, and don't wait until the last week to communicate everything you feel the need to tell your fledgling teen.

Stay in touch - but let your child lead, if possible.
Do make your expectations for communication clear -- whether your minimum is a phone call a week or an e-mail every other day.
Know that your home life will change.
Whether or not you still have children at home, the downsizing of your household will have ripple effects on all of you. Your relationships with each other will change.

Acknowledge this fact, and be patient as you come to a new equilibrium.
Then be prepared for it to shift again when your child comes home for break! Help your family stay connected. If you have other children, help them to stay in touch with your college student.
If your child is an "only," help her stay connected to cousins, grandparents, and friends.
Send cards, care packages, or e-mails frequently to let your child know you are thinking of him without intruding on his life.
Plan at least one visit to campus, if at all feasible.

You'll get to see a side of your student you won't see at home.
But wait several weeks into the semester, even if you're close by.

Give your child a chance to settle in and make friends.

Be prepared for drama - your child may call you one day, completely stressed out and not sure they can take any more, and by the next day (or two) may be fine. So be alert to your child's mental condition, but don't jump to conclusions. And be prepared for your own emotions to waver from day to day and to be a bit more unsettled than usual.

Get your child's roommates' phone cell numbers, so you have someone to check in with if you haven't been able to reach your child.
And give them yours, in case of emergency.

Encourage your child to stay at college on some weekends.

It can be tempting to bring him home if you live close by. But hanging out is a time honored way to meet new people and make new friends. Discuss a spending budget, and review it at least monthly to see if adjustments are necessary on either end. Some things will cost more than you thought, others less.

Some kids have an easier time with budgeting than others.

Remember that your child is learning to be independent. And just like when he learned to walk, he will sometimes fall - it is part and parcel of how we learn.

Support his learning by letting him fall - and equally importantly, acknowledging his growth and successes Be gentle with yourself.
You are learning too.
You are learning how to parent a mostly-independent child, and you are learning how to stay connected without seeing your student daily.
Your are also learning how to give up your "baby." As you have been from that first step he took. College can be a rewarding time for both of you. You may be amazed at the maturity your student acquires in his first semester away - even while making some missteps (or perhaps because of them).
Celebrate this time. Celebrate your child's independence - and your own.

What Is A Laser Diode?

Do you own a DVD or CD player or even a printer? How about a remote control that operates your television? Each of these household items features a laser diode.
This is a semiconductor device that emits waves of the same frequency and phase when power flows through them.

The light beams emitted from laser diodes are not the pencil-shaped beams capable of mass destruction that you may be envisioning. Rather, they emit wider, cone-shaped beams of either visible or infrared light. They are low-intensity beams.
They are tiny devices that are usually less than a millimeter across in size with minimal power requirements.
A crystal wafer featuring p-type and n-type regions is one characteristic of these, and it is this feature that classifies them as semiconductor rather than solid state lasers.
Diodes are similar to LEDs. In fact, LEDs have been described as lasers without feedback cavities.
Laser diodes have internal or external feedback cavities which are used to trigger laser action. High Q cavities narrow emission lines and beams. These beams are not nearly as sharp or narrow as gas laser beams.

Laser Light and Colors These emit visible or infrared light.
Colors range from blue, blue-violet, and green to red. The usage of the laser diode depends in large part on its wavelength and position on the light spectrum.

For example, Blu-ray disc players use blue-violet 405nm laser diodes while red laser pointers use laser diodes in 635nm range.
Common Uses Tough tiny in size, laser diodes are the most common type of laser. They're found in the items mentioned above as well as barcode readers, fiber optics, optical mice, range finders, laser pointers, and medical equipment.
Safety Issues While they are not as hazardous as gas or solid state lasers, they must still be used with care.
In some cases, such as CD and DVD players, laser diodes are housed inside the unit and not intended to be seen.
In addition, their low output beams are nearly invisible and highly divergent. In contrast, laser pointers have a higher output and are highly visible. Laser pointers are collimated, and it is possible for high powered laser pointer beams to burn the retina of an eye. Laser pointers can also cause less substantial effects such as headaches, afterimages, and visual distraction when not used properly.

A greater danger is associated with higher powered visible and infrared diode lasers.
Even invisible beams can be dangerous if they are collimated. Because of the potential for eye injuries or burns, it is prudent to use care whenever a diode laser is present.

Never look into the beam of a laser or point a laser pointer in another person's eyes.

Be aware of the reflected laser beams as well.

Small, powerful, and useful, they have become increasingly common.
In many cases, you'll never see the beam, but you should be aware of it and avoid the temptation to look at it or alter it an any way.

Choosing Your Defensive Driving School Can Be Easy Online

Defensive driving schools are popping up all over the country and exist to assist drivers clean up problems associated with a court order, but these days, a defensive driving school can offer many benefits to voluntary participants as well. In the past, there were complaints from participants of defensive driving schools that instructors were disrespectful, making them feel judged or ridiculed for being there at all.
But in the 1990's, many new schools grew out of the increasing demand, and proprietors saw the need to provide better customer service in order to stay competitive. Today, learning to drive defensively is no longer primarily for drivers convicted of a DUI or for unsafe drivers. More and more safe drivers are seeing the benefits of attending classes for such advantages as reduced points, improved driving skills, and the big one, lower insurance rates! Although attending a class online is an option for busy participants, there is a lot to be said for taking the course on location.
Some schools offer morning refreshments such as a free breakfast on certain days of the week, and we are not just talking coffee and a doughnut.
One North Georgia DUI school puts out a spread of sausage and biscuits, waffles, pancakes, bagels and cream cheese, breakfast bars, cereal, grits, pastries, juices, yogurt, fresh fruit, and more to go along with that coffee, which is free all day during class sessions.
Some schools also offer other free services such as free assistance in finding community service locations, inexpensive clinical evaluators, free advice on how to prepare for a pending court case, and free assessment transfers for the Multi-Offender with free Out-of-State reporting services. Tip Whether you choose to take the course online or on location, finding a good accredited school is easy when you use the internet.

Select a few and see what they have to offer. In today's market, defensive driving schools are fighting for business and that is good news for you.
You can Google key words such as "defensive driving school" in your state. Many options will instantly come up.

Review a few of them to see which ones offer the most flexibility, and don't forget, many of them offer the convenience of courses online.

Cosmetic Surgery a Solution for Bullying Among Children?

Would You Let Your Child Have Plastic Surgery? I have an eleven year old brother, we'll call Jared.

Born in a family with three older girls, with the youngest girl already thirteen years older than him, my brother grew up being able to connect with older adults. With the exception of a few friends he had in the neighborhood, he mainly hung out with his sisters all day. When it came time for him to enter kindergarten we thought he'd be ready, although he was small and quiet we thought his adorable charm would make him many friends. Time could only tell but he did make a few very close friends and also one or two bullies. Jared would come home to us crying; even some days I would pick him up for school ready to dive into some pizza only to find out his lunch pail had been stolen by said bully. There was no winning for the little guy and I would have done anything to stop his crying.

Growing up is the same for many children if not all; children want to be just like their friends.
However, when one child is different from the others, they get made fun of because of those differences.

No matter how hard we try to teach them that differences are what makes everyone unique and that those differences are not bad at all, ever, they still get teased and that sticks.
Decades ago, it was a little easier. No one knew about cosmetic surgery and cosmetic surgery for children wasn't even given a thought.
Girls and boys just knew they'd have to grow out the acne-phase.
Girls knew to use socks for their bras and boys learned how to semi-successfully hide their cracking voices.

Now even parents are opting in for cosmetic surgery on their children just to save them from the anguish and embarrassment their children will inevitably receive from their peers.
Albeit, parents are behaving based on their children's behalf, they're being parents, but is cosmetic surgery a viable solution for bullying? Bullying 101 Let's look at some statistics to see how cosmetic surgery for children under the age of 18 has risen and then continue to dive deeper into some personal stories of childhood bullying and cosmetic surgery.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, children under the age of 18 accounted for just over one percent of the total plastic surgeries in 2012, undergoing 130,502 procedures.
According to Solutionsforbullying.

com, bullypolice.
org, safeyouth.gov, and bullying.org, every 7 minutes a child is bullied; 85% of the time, there is no intervention of any kind. About 47 teens are bullied every five minutes while there are about 282,000 students who are reportedly attacked in high school each month.
71% of students report bullying as an ongoing problem and the leading cause of death among children under the age 14 is suicide.
43% of middle school children avoid the bathroom and locker rooms at all costs due to certainty of being bullied.

When polled 98% of students indicated that they want teachers to intervene.
Bullying was a factor in 2/3 of the 37 school shooting reviews by the US Secret Service.

Bullying is obviously a huge problem for the nation's children; would you consider bullying an issue concerning enough for parents to use cosmetic surgery as a solution? Is there an exception if the parents and child know that their physical feature is the number one reason he/she is being bullied? Let's read on and do a semi-case study on a few examples of recent children in the news for their cosmetic surgeries based on bullying.
Nadia- 14 14-year-old Nadia Ilse has been teased and bullied about her larger ears since she was just 7 years old.
Nadia found school a classic nightmare where her classmates tormented her and she could bare to look at herself in the mirror.

According to Nadia, she even thought about suicide, but being the intelligent young woman she is, decided it was obviously not the right solution. However, the teasing and bullying escalated to where she missed many days of school claiming her stomach hurt or she had awful migraines.
Nadia was afraid to tell her mother, Lynda, as she had recently been laid off word and her 9-year-old brother, Joshua was battling cerebral palsy. Nadia couldn't bear to add to her family's struggles however horrible her own struggles were. When she was finally able to tell her mother, with tears running down her face, Lynda was devastated and heartbroken but knew she had to do something about it.

It was obvious that the small family couldn't afford it so she turned to the Little Baby Face Foundation, a Manhattan-based organization that provides free surgery for children with facial deformities who have a financial need. Nadia had the $40,000 operation on her ears, also called an otoplasty.
Nadia says she feels like a new, beautiful girl and no longer has a problem looking at herself in the mirror.
Asked about how she felt about the bullies who tormenter her, she said: "I forgive, but I don't forget.

" Samantha- 7 In April, people around the world expressed their opinions and outrage when 7-year-old Samantha Shaw had her ears surgically pinned back to escape name calling and harassment. Also through the Little Baby Face Foundation, Samantha had a similar otoplasty as Nadia to pin back her cup ears and fix a fold on her right ear. However, having ear surgery on a 7-year old girl was quite a shocker to the public. Samantha had not experienced or acknowledged that she had been bullied, her mother finding the worst coming from grown adults, quoting one woman who went up to Samantha and said "Oh my God, what happened to your ears?" Samantha's mother did not want her daughter to become a bullying statistic; she instead chose preventative cosmetic surgery for her daughter's ears.
Samantha's only hopes were to wear her hair like the other girls in her class do and to get her ears pierced.
Otoplasty is the most common cosmetic operation done on children.

In addition to cleft lip or cleft palate surgery, it's the only cosmetic procedure acceptable for young children.

Otoplasty is acceptable for young children because at the age of six, the ear is 90% of adult size, allowing for easy operation and the child is old enough to understand why the operation is important.
Rhinoplasty is the most requested surgical procedure by teens. It can be performed when the nose has completed 90% of its growth which can occur as early as 13-14 in girls and 15-16 in boys.
So what would you do as a parent? Would you find a solution to bullying in plastic surgery? Are there exceptions? What does this type of solution say to your children? Feel free to comment and discuss as you please.
